Surfing the Rookery
by Jacqueline Schletter
Jackie Schletter is an award winning nature and wildlife photographer whose work blends artistry with authenticity. Her images highlight the quiet beauty and intricate detail of the natural world, often revealing moments of stillness and connection between subject and environment.
Bathed in a single shaft of light, a Great Egret stands atop white blooms, its feathers illuminated like threads of glass against the dark. This fine art nature photograph captures the contrast between fragility and strength, form and shadow, grace and wildness. This image was captured during breeding season in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Those lovely draping feathers (aigrettes) adorn the bird and move with the breeze that was present that day. After breeding season those fancy feathers will be lost and grown again next season.
Photographed and artistically processed by Jackie Schletter, this piece celebrates the quiet drama of nature’s choreography, where every shift of light tells a story.
Ideal for coastal, nature-inspired, or modern minimalist interiors, this bird photography wall art brings a touch of elegance and calm to any space.
