Description
This is a Plein air painting of the sandstone ledges at the mouth of Cedar Canyon, just east of Cedar City Utah.
I was with a couple of other artists, and was sort of giving a little painting lesson.
This painting portrays the sandstone ledges at the mouth of Cedar Canyon, just east of Cedar City, Utah. Broad, textured brushstrokes bring to life the layered red and golden rock formations, their surfaces glowing under a soft desert light.Subtle shifts in color — from burnt sienna to amber and dusty rose — evoke the canyon’s rugged beauty and timeless presence. The scene feels both expansive and intimate, a quiet homage to the natural artistry of Utah’s canyon landscape.
