"Next to Zion" is an original oil painting, 24x48. The scene is a series of bluffs and mesas that are just south of the city of Virgin, Utah.  Virgin is about 5 miles from the Zion entrance.  One of the interesting things about this terrain, especially Gooseberry Mesa, which is further south, is that it is used for daring bicycle races. The trails have been groomed to have lots of long jumps and narrow ridges, and the riders literally take their life in their hands when traversing the wicked course..  Nevertheless, outside of that excitement, the area is clear and quiet, and while not as spectacular as Zion, it is beautiful year-round.
