Description
This painting was created during the Estes Park, Colorado plein air competition last summer. The scene depicts the McGregor Ranch, located northwest of Estes Park.
I completed the painting in two hours working on linen mounted on board to allow easy transport and stability. The surface allows me to capture the immediacy of the moment.
I was able to set up just off the main road safely out of the way of traffic, and was undisturbed the entire time. From this vantage point, I focused on conveying the sense of open space and
the feeling of the mountain receding into the distance. The quiet atmosphere and expansive landscape made it an especially enjoyable and immersive painting experience.
The painting is sold unframed allowing collectors to frame it according to their individual tast and style.
